Hanimaadhoo International Airport Expands Operations with New Apron in North Maldives

Hanimaadhoo International Airport has inaugurated a brand new apron, improving its operational capability. The apron was completedindependently of the continued airport improvement assignment, that isfunded through a mortgage from India`s Exim Bank and consists of a brand new runway and modern terminal.

The Regional Airports Company Limited (RACL), which manages the airport, has shifted operations from the antique apron to the newly builtfacility. The new runway acquired its inaugural flight from countrywideservice Maldivian on Sunday morning.


RACL Managing Director Ahmed Mubeen defined that the apron become a strategic addition to enhance revenue generation. According to RACL, the 42,000-square-foot apron may be promoted as a jet parking facility, accommodating up to 6 jets simultaneously. Upon final touch of the bigger improvement assignment, the apron will feature as an isolation bay.


The ongoing Hanimaadhoo airport improvement assignment ambitionsto permit the airport to deal with larger aircraft such as A320s and Boeing 737s, boom passenger capability to 1.3 million annually, and offer fuel storage facilities.
